1911 Census

The 1911 Census of Ireland

This is the most recent census available to research. At the time Ireland was one country under The United Kingdom, and the census was organised from Dublin. For that reason Dublin holds the origianl census returns covering all of the island.

For researchers, though, the returns may be accessed and searched on the http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ website.

This is one of the best places to begin research into your family history as it gives family groups in one place. there are, of course, a large number of exceptions to all this.

What information do you see on the 1911 Census of Ireland?

Names
Relationships to each other
Religion
Ages
Occupations
Marital status
Place of birth
For a married couple the number of years they have been married, how many children they have had, and how many of these children are still alive at the time of the census.
